Corporate event trends for 2026: Insights from an award-winning venue

Having hosted hundreds of conferences, awards ceremonies and corporate events, event destination Spaces at The Spine has seen first-hand how flexibility, wellbeing, sustainability, hybrid delivery and AI are redefining what organisers expect from venues. In this article, we share the standout lessons from 2025 and explore how these trends are set to influence event planning and delivery in 2026.

As an award-winning Liverpool event and conference venue, Spaces at The Spine hosts hundreds of corporate events every year. This gives us a unique vantage point: not to just spot emerging trends, but to test and adapt them according to our spaces, technology and services.

Looking back at 2025, several key themes shaped how organisers approached their events – and they show no signs of slowing down. Here’s what the past year has taught us, and what we believe will define events in 2026.

Flexibility above all

In 2025, event organisers prioritised flexibility and adaptability above all else when sourcing a venue. With budget constraints expected to continue in 2026, many companies and organisations are moving away from rigid, one-size-fits-all packages. Instead, they will switch things up and use pre-made packages as a starting point to build a more personalised event format, truly meeting specific goals and engaging audiences.

One of the surprising and most defining trends we saw in 2025 was the diverse ways clients would use our spaces. From awards ceremonies to AI and tech-focused events, our combination of cutting-edge technology and highly flexible layouts was called into action regularly.

Our key takeaway: the appetite for adaptable spaces and offers will only grow stronger in 2026, as organisers seek venues that can evolve with the times and meet their requirements for fast-changing agendas and client expectations. Discover our portfolio of modern, ergonomic spaces.

Sustainability and wellbeing remained central priorities throughout 2025 and will continue to shape decision-making in 2026. Many organisers actively chose Spaces at The Spine because environmental responsibility and health measures are embedded into the venue itself, from its design and architecture to operations and the way events are delivered.

We also experienced a growing interest in wellbeing-led practices and programmes, with clients adding meditative sound baths to their conferences or inviting their delegates to climb the 13 floors of our building to start the day with a shared element of health and mindfulness.

Our key takeaway: in 2026, wellbeing will shift from a nice-to-have to an expected element of corporate events. Simultaneously, more importance will be placed on delivering environmentally conscious gatherings.

Organisers increasingly want events to be more than gatherings: they want them to be a force for good.

Not only that, they expect an experience, not simply a space – meaning that venues are no longer chosen exclusively for capacity or location. They need to provide an edge, something that aligns with the event’s ethos, brand and delegate expectations, and bring audiences together in new and original ways.

In an incredibly busy world, delegates are making active choices about which events deserve their time. They expect experiences that can add to their life, skillset and experience. For venues, this means offering something different: innovative spaces that actively promote and improve health, unique catering that moves away from traditional hot fork buffet lunches or extra activities that enrich the day.

Our key takeaway: through the power of storytelling, venues will need to showcase what makes them truly unique and more than spaces where events take place. Whether it is a charitable purpose, heritage or a feature that truly elevates the delegate experience, like in the case of Spaces at The Spine’s wellbeing-improving architecture.

Lately, we’ve seen a growing focus on branding and visual impact. Clients want environments that feel cohesive and reinforce their brand voice and message from the moment delegates enter the venue. To support this requirement, Spaces at The Spine offers branded lecterns and backdrops, as well as digital signage throughout, so clients can create a fully tailored, professional environment that reflects their event identity.

In-person events are definitely back, but almost always with a hybrid or virtual element. Whether it’s adding a remote speaker, providing online access to international delegates or using post-event content as a way to generate more engagement, the digital/online element has become a certainty.

As we move into 2026, AI will inevitably play a larger role in events. Used correctly as a companion, it has the potential to become event organisers’ best friend. From workshops and conferences exploring generative AI to tech showcases, organisations are increasingly looking for spaces that can support advanced technology, hybrid participation, and interactive experiences, and we're lucky enough to fit this brief.

Although it’s undoubtedly the hottest trend (and here to stay), feedback from our clients tells us they still very much appreciate our human approach to technology. Spaces at The Spine was built around technology, but our in-house AV team is what makes it truly outstanding and helps take the stress away from organisers. As we move into 2026, one thing is clear: the future of events belongs to venues that balance technology with humanity.

Our key takeaway: the future of events lies in blending smart technology with human expertise. In 2026, the most successful events will balance immersive branding, hybrid accessibility and AI-driven innovation without losing the personal, human touch.

Looking ahead, one thing is certain: 2026 will be defined by more meaningful, more flexible and more experience-led events. At Spaces at The Spine, we’re excited to continue supporting organisers as they create events that don’t just inform but inspire, engage and make a lasting impact.
