When you’re planning an event, whether it’s a conference for up to 350 delegates or a relaxed drinks reception, the ultimate aim is always the same – to give guests an experience they’ll remember for the right reasons. Creating a positive impression requires a variety of elements; it’s about much more than just deciding on a location, shortlisting speakers and waiting for the RSVPs to land.
At Spaces at The Spine, we pride ourselves on creating and delivering outstanding events, so we asked our expert team to tell us what goes into making that happen.
It’s not just top of the list for house buyers, it should be for event planners too. How hassle-free will it be for your guests to get there? If in-person attendance is the goal of your event, then having a venue that’s conveniently located with transport links and parking is essential. Accessibility will give your delegates a relaxed journey and get your event off to a smooth start.
For example, Spaces at The Spine is located in the heart of Paddington Village, Knowledge Quarter, which is easily accessible via car, taxi and public transport. The wellbeing of your delegates is our number one priority, even before they step into our venue. This is why we encourage delegates and event organisers to take the short 15-minute walk (1,647 steps) that separates us from Liverpool Lime Street and reach our venue by foot.
Once you’ve pinpointed a location, look for a venue that will stand out. Maybe it’s somewhere that shares your brand values in terms of sustainability or a building with a particularly interesting design backstory? What about breath-taking views and landscapes that will make your delegates and guests go 'wow'?
At Spaces at The Spine, we have all of this and more!
Every event is individual, so you’ll need somewhere that can comfortably accommodate everyone and offer flexibility. Maybe you’d like to have guests attend sessions in separate spaces or have a boardroom setting in the daytime and an informal reception in the evening?
The modern design of our venue allows for versatility and diversity, meaning that you can combine or split rooms to accommodate different setups and party sizes. Take as an example Spaces One and Two: when combined, these spaces have a capacity of up to 330 people in theatre setup or 340 for standing receptions, but they can also be used as separate rooms catering for up to 150 and 160 people (theatre setup), respectively.
You can also spread your event over two floors to make the best of Spaces at The Spine's unique features, such as our installation of oxygen-producing plants in The Atrium on Floor twelve and the unrivalled panoramic views over Liverpool visible from The Axis on the Top floor.
Use our Capacity Planner and Gallery tools or book an in-person site visit to understand if our venue is the right fit for your event.
Technical glitches can damage the impression of an event (and they can bring organisers out in a cold sweat thinking about what might happen). Conferences and events often rely on seamless audio visual, so don’t risk tech letting you down.
At Spaces at The Spine, our best-in-class systems combine with an expert in-house AV team to calm any tech nerves, so you can focus on your guests instead of patchy connections.
As our AV Operations Manager, Adrian Pridgeon says: “Everything is built into the venue and connected through a network, so we’re able to be as flexible as possible for our clients while offering a personal service through our AV team, who know the building inside and out.”
When choosing menus for your event, whether it’s a buffet lunch or a sit-down meal, it isn’t just about the taste. The thought and care that’s gone into sourcing ingredients, as well as the nutritional value of the food on offer, could be just as important to your delegates.
Your food should reflect who you are as an organisation. At Spaces at The Spine, our menus and packages showcase what we stand for: ethical, healthy and nutritious. Remember, you are what you eat (and what your guests eat!).
