In April 2024, Spaces at The Spine proudly hosted the annual conference for the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society (BMFMS).
The inspiring two-day event brought together over 440 medical professionals from across the country to share knowledge and provide updates to attendees.
Through a programme that included 63 speakers, 17 sessions, 225 poster presentations and a lively social event, the primary goal was to deliver focused content that would impart valuable insights. As a result, the conference aimed to increase memberships, strengthen partnerships with sponsors and engage with community organisations to develop relationships.
Chosen for our adaptable spaces, first-class AV facilities and sustainability credentials, Spaces at The Spine aligned closely with BMFMS’s logistical needs to provide the ideal event set-up.
The annual conference was hosted throughout Spaces at The Spine, with several spaces and floors utilised.
To maximise the flow of a large group, the main plenary was held in Space One and Two, with the floor below hosting live demonstrations in Space Four and Five and poster presentations in Spaces Six to Nine. The venue’s breakout rooms were also widely used; the Wolfson Lecture Theatre hosted live streaming, The Axis housed exhibitors with catering being offered in both this space and The Atrium.
The setting provided easy access between the main room, catering and sponsors. The use of the layout also ensured that delegates never had to navigate long distances, allowing for a cohesive and connected experience throughout the day – resulting in a 10/10 satisfaction level from delegates.
Of the 441 conference participants, 54 people joined virtually, which meant that delivering a hybrid experience was a key priority. Spaces at The Spine’s connectivity and advanced AV systems played a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
Our high-quality AV system provided a professional set-up for those who joined virtually. Each of the rooms has built-in high definition cameras that provide multiple mixed-angle views of speakers, full audience shots and wide-angle panel discussions.
This seamless integration of physical and digital platforms meant remote participants felt just as engaged as those in the room.
Spaces at The Spine’s commitment to sustainability deeply resonated with both BMFMS and its attendees. From optimised energy usage and use of natural materials throughout the venue to locally sourced catering and rooms providing ample natural light, every detail reflected a shared ethos of environmental responsibility.
“Spaces at The Spine offered everything we needed to deliver an outstanding hybrid event. The natural light, great views and delicious catering created a welcoming atmosphere while the advanced AV setup ensured a professional and engaging experience. The venue’s layout made movement between sessions, catering and sponsors effortless. It truly felt like a premium experience for all involved.”
